Location: Further Doings Studio - 528 Richmond Road, Grey Lynn
In this class you will learn how to knot a doormat in the ocean plait style using traditional techniques. We will finish the mats by stitching the ends to create one uninterrupted loop.
Using a plywood board template you will create your mat using manila rope following the ocean plait pattern.
Everyone takes home a completed doormat and the skills to make more.
All materials and tools provided.

Wendy Nannestad is a multidiscipline designer with a passion for making. She majored in Industrial Design at the Victoria University’s School of Architecture and Design graduating in 1998 and in the last 20 years has worked in a variety of industries, from local and international design consultancies to commercial manufacturers and contract work for small businesses, and is currently working as a senior designer at F&P.
Wendy is passionate about creating contemporary things using both modern and traditional materials and techniques. You could say her style is an eclectic mix of Dutch/Norwegian craft & design with a bit kiwi thrown in for good measure.
