Come and get your creative juices flowing in this fun interactive 3 hour block printing onto fabric workshop. Learn the skills to create your own design and print it on either a linen tea towel or fabric Tote bag. You can then also take home these skills and print onto all sorts of fabric - pillow cases, cushion covers, tea towels - so may possibilities to reuse these skills and create gifts or update your home fabric interiors.
We’ll be using simple tools (which you may already have at home) to make your own printing blocks and learn about pattern repeats.
A carefully curated colour pallet of textile inks will be provided for you to use during the workshop.
At the end of the workshop you take home printed samples on calico and a completed printed tea towel or tote bag.
Novice and experienced students are welcome.

The Artist: Katie is a textile artist, who works in her studio in West Auckland, where she is inspired by the wild mash-up of urban industrial spaces and the forest clad Waitakere ranges.
She loves synthesizing these disparate influences into printable motifs.
Katie relishes in the uniqueness of hand printing and exploring its numerous possibilities. She graduated with an M.A in Textile Art from Goldsmiths University of London, in 1995, and prior to this, she studied textiles at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin. She likes to keep her work simple, spontaneous and contemporary.
She loves sharing her knowledge and passion for textiles and has run numerous print workshops for adults and children.
